Three may keep a secret if two of them are dead.

When a woman's skeleton arrives on Ginny Mackenzie's doorstep on the morning of October 31st, she assumes it's a Hallowe’en prank. She is wrong.

Pregnant with her first child, and not in the mood for another corpse, Ginny Mackenzie — amateur sleuth, ICU nurse, and reluctant magnet for Loch Lonach's darkest secrets — turns her tenacious curiosity toward a cold case that seems to have her name on it. No one claims the skeleton so Ginny widens her search to everyone with a tie to the old house, the one Ginny and her husband now call home, tracing the mystery through local history, genetic genealogy, and the still-emerging science of forensic identification.

Ginny tackles the puzzle in the way she always does, but something has shifted. The dry bones have taken on a personality of their own — and with new life stirring inside her, Ginny can't stop thinking that the dead woman was someone's child – someone’s lost child.

Solid detective work leads Ginny to the man responsible for delivering the skeleton to her door, and from him to the one person left alive who knows the whole truth. As in the best Golden Age mysteries, there's a twist.

A #CozyPlus mystery for readers of Dorothy L. Sayers, Josephine Tey, Ellis Peters, and Agatha Christie — where forensic genealogy, small-town suspicion, and the quiet menace of family secrets collide in the Scotland-to-Texas diaspora community of Loch Lonach. Perfect for fans of amateur sleuth mysteries, cold case thrillers, and clean mysteries with real emotional stakes.

Definitely another super read from the creative storyteller and fabulous author Maggie Foster. Should have a Netflix series on her books. It would be so exciting to follow her characters on screen through their adventures. Wonderful Series.. storytelling. In these stressful times I wish Loch Lonach was real!
